Kasatochi

Kasatochi, about 1,200 miles west of Anchorage, doesn't look like this anymore. After erupting on Aug. 7th, 2008, the island blobbed out to become grayer and about 30 percent bigger, though it's shrinking again. I went there with a crew of scientists aboard the Tiglax, the boat of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, last week. Cool trip. Pics starting tomorrow.
